About Shane Nicoletti – head tutor

Shane Nicoletti is Ireland’s first male Pilates Teacher. He discovered Pilates in London after graduating in Physical Therapy from the National Training Centre in 1997. Shane started weight training at an early age after studying his grand father’s physical education books. He went on to represent Ireland for 10 years in Water Polo after being deemed too small and too light to make the football team in school. He also played for (UCLA) in 1993 and 1994. 

Shane tutored at the National Training Centre in Exercise Physiology and Anatomy for 12 years. After working with Michael King in London at the Pilates Institute he also became a Senior Pilates Tutor and was instrumental in setting up the Pilate Institute in Ireland, teaching and examining Pilate’s students all over the country. Apart from teaching and certifying Personal Trainers, Physical Therapists and Pilates students he  also worked part time with the DIT. Teaching 2nd and 3rd year students fitness and massage modules as part of their degree programmes.

Shane has also written 7 books on Fitness Methods, Pilates mat work, Pilates reformer and Olympic Weightlifting. Shane has also worked with many Pilates tutors all over the world, including most of the Pilates elders (Joseph Pilate’s direct students). This combined with his in-depth knowledge of Anatomy, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics sets him aside as a true Master Of Pilates.
