I’m Dr Heather McKee, a behavioural weight loss and lifestyle specialist, I’m devoted to helping people achieve long-term weight loss success. My programme is based on my own specific research in the area of evidence-based, intelligent but kind weight loss for nearly 10 years. I am now, for the first time, bringing this program to Ireland.

How soon can I expect to see changes?

Some people start to see changes after the first session. However in general, you can expect to feel psychological improvements after 1 month. Physiological changes are completely dependent on the individual. I don’t emphasise a focus on weight loss in terms of numbers on the scale. This is increasingly thought to have a negative impact on your weight loss success, often resulting in food preoccupation, weight cycling between loss and regain, and crucially it can distract you from your personal inherent healthy lifestyle goals. I focus on improvements in your habits, confidence, self-esteem and the key skills that will lead to your success. The results of these can be seen in the detailed reports you will receive in order to track your progress towards your goals.

About Heather

I started out studying a Bachelor degree and Master’s degree in Sport Science and Health, focusing on exercise and behaviour change psychology. While working with clients, I was struck by how many people had tried multiple weight loss methods and diets throughout their lives and yet were still unhappy with their weight. In 2010, I commenced my PhD in the Psychology of Weight Loss. I wanted to know what makes someone successful at weight loss and maintenance, and why do so many others fail.

My research was taken up by over 50 world media publications, including TIME magazine, The Times, Huffington Post and Women’s Health. I was overwhelmed by the public demand to seek further information. I then realised there is a real need for evidence based interventions as opposed to commercially driven methods that are based on making quick financial gains as opposed to helping people find lasting solutions. I also started to study more complex psychological techniques that were known to help empower and enable people to achieve positive behaviour changes.
