Weight training either with free weights or machines can give tremendous benefits to our physical make up. However we cannot become obsessed with the word weight. The amount of weight we use on any given exercise is relative to our individual strength and the training effect we are looking for. Throwing weights around uncontrolled is useless. Irrespective of what we are trying to achieve the weight needs to be light enough so we can concentrate on the working body part and not on the actual weight.

A crucial component of resistance training is the ability to focus and concentrate on the specific working muscle groups. By visualizing the working body part especially during a high intensity set we can greatly improve the quality of contraction achieved by the muscle fibers adding to the effectiveness of the workout This increases the intensity with less effort and can allow us to achieve high intensity with lighter weights.
